What's the Problem?

Empowering Environmental Action
People are concerned about deforestation and pollution, but the problem is so big it's easy to be overwhelmed by it. People want to help, but are uncertain of how to have a real impact.

Crafting a storyboard, we introduced the narrative of Grace - our embodiment of a user who seeks to seamlessly intertwine physical activity with a compassionate, conscientious, and proactive approach towards the environment. Her journey is driven by the desire to contribute meaningfully by planting trees.

Aspiring to Create
Engaging with fun and frequently used apps that not only offer rewards for activities I naturally partake in, such as walking, but also create a significant impact that holds genuine meaning - like the act of planting trees.
I Wonder...
What pivoting from the original idea can look like, when the research tells you the user doesn't like the concept

Our interview plan consisted of our team surveying 17 individuals and interviewing 8 individuals to better understand people's experiences about the impact they have on the environment
Upon conducting our initial series of user interviews, we gained valuable insights that highlighted a significant hurdle: our original concept of "Hug a Tree to Plant a Tree" was met with discomfort by users. As a business owner, I know the importance of responding to the feedback you get from users. Acknowledging the importance of user comfort and engagement, we swiftly embraced a pivot, channeling our efforts into a reformulation of the idea. This ensured a more intuitive and enjoyable interaction.

I Wish...
With a little more time - even a week - we could have made this app better. With more iterations we would have created more challenges for users, more validation and reward badges for attaining goals, as well as adding charities that users could donate to from within the app.
